First Orlando Gay Pride Celebration

The very first Gay Pride Celebration was held in June of 1983 at Orlando's Turkey Lake Park. The event was attended by over 800 gays and lesbians at the first local, large-scale celebration of national Gay Pride Sunday. The week also included a Unity Brunch held at Daisy's Backstage at Church Street Station.
